Every winter, hundreds of migratory birds from various species throng to the spontaneous water bodies of Hadoti region and stay here from October to late March. It is also the season for tourist industry in the region where thousands of foreign and domestic tourists rush during winter.Pelicans, particularly Gray Pelicans that live up to eating fish as heavy as to one and a half kg start reaching here in the first week of January,
Rich avian diversity
The painted stork breeding colony of Udpuria village is worth a visit during winter months when the whole area is abuzz with the calls of hundreds of young birds competing with each other for food and parental attention.
Sarus Crane (Grus Anti Gone) - Resident and the tallest flying find house in and around most of the wetlands and water bodies. A unison call of the pain is the symbol of love between a husband and wife. Rajasthan has the second largest population of this bird in India. A bird now being theatner, Kota has the largest population of these crane in the state, and only in the country where they breed twice in a year .
The Painted Stork is a broad winged soaring bird. Like all storks, it flies with its neck out stretched. The adult is a large bird, 95-100cm tall, mainly white with black flight feathers. The head is red, and the long downcurved bill is yellow. The tail and legs are pink, and there is dark barring on the breast. The Painted Stork walks slowly and steadily in shallow waters or adjacent wet grassland seeking its prey, which, like that of most of its relatives, includes fish, frogs and large insects. It sweeps its head from side to side with its bill half open in water as it hunts for fish.
Paradise fly Catcher (Tarp Siphon Paradise)-A resident bind found in forest and well wooded areas. The breeding male has deep black rest with white whole body and a long tail; the female has short crest and Rugous upper body. Very rare to photograph a male sitting on the nest.
Rufous Tree Pie (Dendro Citta Vaga Bunda) A resident find house in open wooded forest and gardens with trees and bushes.
