New Delhi: Indian Army soldiers will have their DNA profile stored in a data bank under a project launched by the Armed Forces Medical Services that will facilitate identification of bodies during any operation, attack or mishap.
The process involves collecting the blood sample of each soldier, sailor and airman, analysing the sample and storing in a blood bank. This will be the most convenient and fool proof way of confirming the identity of dead soldiers.

New Delhi: Prime Minister Manmohan Singh on Sunday presented to Sikkim an award for "extraordinary and innovative" work done by the state's Rural Management and Development Department.
The prime minister presented a medal, a scroll and cash award of Rs 5 lakh to DR Nepal, secretary, Rural Management and Development Department, Sikkim, for exemplary performance of civil servants in the organizational category for year 2011-12, said a statement issued by Sikkim's principal resident commissioner here.
The award was given on the occasion of the eighth Civil Services Day on Sunday, at a function at Vigyan Bhawan in the national capital.

"This is an unpardonable betrayal of the nation...I don't want any awards from a government which does not act against corruption," Hazare said, addressing people at the parade ground in Dehradun on the conclusion of the first phase of his Jantantra Yatra.
