Commentary:
Warner and Dhawan hand Gujarat their first defeat this season. The two (Warner 74* and Dhawan 53*) have helped SRH notch up their second consecutive win, this season. With this win, the SRH have both the purple and orange cap holders.
SRH: 125/0 after 14 overs
Kulkarni's here. The two are managing to keep the scoreboard ticking with ease - Dhawan, especially, is starting to get his timing back. The Delhi batsman is slowly inching towards his half-century. Nine runs have come off this Kulkarni's first. Eleven needed off 36 balls.
Another 24 needed for SRH, who are 115/0 after 12
SRH need exactly 40 and they have 60 balls to get it. Jadeja's introduced into the attack. 100's up for SRH. Now Dhawan steps up - two consecutive boundaries. Bravo's slower ball, strangely, seem ineffective today. 112/0 after 12 overs
Sunrisers Hyderabad 96/0 afte 10 overs
These two are doing it in singles and doubles at the moment, and righly so. There's no need to take risks at the moment - less than 5 needed per over. Warner's had enough of running, smashes the last ball past the running long-on fielder. Tambe's second yields 10 runs.
Can DJ Bravo provide a breakthrough?
Seems not, another 10 runs came off this - with very little risks taken.
SRH: 76/0 after 8 overs
Raina to continue. Dhawan's being smart here - takes a single and gets down to the non-striker's end and lets Warner cut loose. A much better second over from Raina, six runs off it. There's no threat to these two, from either ends - getting too straightforward.
SRH need 66 runs from 13 overs
Spin from both ends; Tambe into the attack. Runs continue to come for SRH - in singles and doubes, this time. Warner notches up another half-century and in case you're wondering about Dhawan - he's batting at 13 off 13 balls. Seven runs, this over.
SRH: 63/0 after the end poweplay overs.
Raina to bowl, for the first time this IPL season. Warner's pouncing on his flatter and straight deliveries - two boundaries, easy. They're going at 10.5 at the moment - the required RR is 5.21.
No sure if many will agree with this guy..
DJ Bravo bowls a tidy over - only five came off that. His slower ones remain the key. SRH: 53/0 after 5
They're going at 12 rpo, SRH: 48/0 after four overs
Karthik's come up to the stumps for Kumar. And, Warner seems to like the pace at which Kumar's bowling - he's thumped two in the cover region. Kumar's got nowhere to hide here, Warner's flat-bats it past the bowler. Not sure if Kumar will be back for another one, at least till Warner's at the middle. 18 runs off this.
SRH 30/0 after 3 overs
Steyn's already mixing up the pace of his deliveries - that's the way to go on this wicket. A relatively quiet over, seven off it. Steyn is working up some good pace here.
A brisk start by SRH, 23/0 after two
Praveen Kumar will share the new ball with Steyn. Kumar's sprayed the ball all over the place - he needs to get his radar right. A couple of wides - one was a very wide wide, fetching five for the batting team. Kumar's 8-ball over comes to end - 13 runs came off it.
10 after the first over
Shikhar Dhawan and David Warner are here. Steyn steaming in and getting some late swing in to the left handers. He's squared Warner up and manages to catch the edge of his bat - but not a favourable outcome form Steyn, a boundary. Warner gets some width from Steyn and smashes that over point. 10 off the first over. Super start!
Raina's (75 from 51) gone, trying to up the tempo and Nath follows the captain to the pavilion - he consumed 10 balls to score 5. Another one falls! Bhuvi cleans up the tail with a bunch of slower deliveries. GL have manged to score only 61 in the last 10 overs, losing 7 wickets in the process. They end up scoring 135 in their alloted twenty overs - a below-par total, one thinks.
Akshdeep Nath getting runs here. Mustafizur's change in pace is troubling the young batsman, who doesn't make contact with the ball even after repeated attempts. Mustafizur's bowled another four-run over, here. One more to go, GL 129/5
The only positive thing for GL so far...
Sran's here and will look to take pace off the ball. But he's getting a bit predictable, three slower ones in a row. Raina's waiting for another one, surely! Yes, and it comes, slow, at 87kmph and dispatches over the midwicket region. Eight came off this. GL: 125/5 after 18
Seamers plotting Gujarat's downfall here, 117/5 after 17
Mustafizur's here to bowl his third. Another slower and another wicket. Jadeja (14 runs) perishes, trying to swat one over midwicket. That's a terrific over, only 4 runs and a wicket off it. Young Akshdeep Nath's the next batsman.
160, possible? GL: 113/4 with four to go
Bhuvi's into the attack. There's no urgency from these two at the middle - scoreboard's still ticking in singles and doubles. The bowler's also gifted two wides, trying to outhink the batsman. Another over that has yielded nine runs.
GL: 104/4 after 15 overs
Mustafizur will look to bowl more slower ones now. The Bangaldeshi bowler begins with three off-cutters - 2,1 and a 4. The fourth one's a fast yorker, that Raina manages to flick and get a single. It's only slow off-cutters and yorkers from Mustafizur. They've managed to score 8 in this over. He's still got two overs.
With six overs to go, Raina remains the key. GL need to accelerate soon.
Sran bowls another slower one and Bravo's (8 runs) struggle comes to an end. He tries to whip that off his hips but doesn't time it too well - Bhuvi settles under that takes it near the rope. Jadeja walks in to the middle. That's another strike at a crucial juncture. Six overs to go and GL at 95/4
Henriques bowled another tight over. The slower ones are posing some problem to Bravo. Again, runs coming in singles and eight off this - SRH will be happy with this. GL: 91/3 after 13 overs
Raina brings up his 50 in Hooda's last ball - that came at a quick pace, in 34 balls. Six singles off that. Now, the RR has come below 7. Gujarat Lions 83/3 (RR: 6.91) after 12 overs
GL need to get a move on, at 77/3 with nine to go
DJ Bravo's here. Bipul has slipped in a silent over here - batsmen able to score only three in this. The run rate has dipped a bit - now at 7.
Hooda's back. Karthik helps himself to a boundary - it was short and wide. And another one, this time a powerful sweep. Now, Karthik (8 runs) returns the favour. He sweeps the next ball, a full toss, straight to Bhuvi who manages to hold on it with some effort. Gujarat Lions 74/3 at the halfway mark.
GL: 67/2 after 9 overs
Henriques's hitting the pitch hard and getting some purchase here - only four off this over. GL need to get going soon, the run rate is shade below 7.5.
GL: 62/2 (RR: 7.75) after eight
Bipul Sharma strikes in his first over - gets Baz (18 off 17 balls) who mishits one and gets caught at midwicket. Tamil Nadu 'keeper Dinesh Karthik's the next man in. And, Raina spoils the good over with a powerful loft over midwicket. Eight off it.
Henriques bowls a tidy over, GL: 55/1 after seven
Aussie all-rounder Moises Henriques's here. Runs only coming in single this over - a much needed one after that over from Hooda. Five off it.
GL: 50/1 at the end of powerplay overs.
Hooda to bowl the next. Raina reaches out to a good length delivery and drives it through the covers. No turn for Hooda - no revs on the ball and it's moving in straight lines. Innocuous bowling, this.
McCullum steps on the gas, GL: 41/1 after five
Baz breaks the shackles with a heave over square leg - hits a 88m six, a small one by his standards. Sran bowls a similar ball, and McCullum pounces on that again, this time a four. And, runs continue to come - the he manages to get it past the diving midwicket fielder for another boundary. Sran's leaked 24 off his two overs so far.
Mustafizur makes an impact - GL: 26/1 after four
Mustafizur is here, and bowls a slower one first up - beats Baz with lack of pace on that. The Bangladeshi seamer's already made an impact - runs have come in singles and with considerable effort. Only three runs came in that over.
GL: 24/1 after three overs
Raina's come out positive here, some decisive footwork has fetched the UP batsman two boundaries on either side of the wicket. He's moving into the swinging deliveries with some assured footwork. Ten runs came off that over.
After two overs, Gujarat 14/1
Sran will share the new ball, and gets greeted with a boundary. The Punjabi pacer hasn't managed to swing the ball yet. They 've managed to get nine off Sran's first.
Well done, Champ!
Bhuvi's getting the ball to swing big and Finch's having a hard time negotiating the incoming deliveries. This was waiting to happen - the ball manges to sneak in the gap between the bat and pad. Finch's gone for a duck. Skipper Suresh Raina walks and doesn't waste much time - leans into that one drives it past the cover fielder. An eventful first over, that - 5 runs and a wicket off it.
Warner's won the toss and SRH will bowl first. He believes the "wicket will stay the same through the match." No surprises there - teams batting second have won 13 matches so far, this season.
Ten minutes toss. Simon Doull reckons that 175 is a par score at this decent-sized venue.
Some doubts persist over Finch's participation in the match - the other night, he suffered cramps but that didn't stop him from powering the Lions to victory over Mumbai Indians.
