Riding on the strength of its compact defence U Mumba trounced an off-colour Bengaluru Bulls 39-18 in their ProKabaddi League clash at the Thyagaraj Nagar Sports Complex here on Thursday.
U Mumba was favoured to win the contest and it did not disappoint its supporters as Rishank Devadiga, Anup Kumar, Mohit Chillar and Fazel Atrachali gave their best for the team. When Rakesh Kumar inflicted an all-out performance on Bulls early in the second session the trend was confirmed. U Mumba was far superior to the Bulls.
For Mumba it was continuation of splendid form as it won its fifth match in a row while nothing worked for Bulls. The U Mumba players proved to be far more skilful and athletic on the court and tactically slowed down the game to maintain their grip. Bulls, as a team, came apart and succumbed to the pressure in the first session itself.
U Mumba stayed on course for a semifinal slot along with Patna Pirates, Bengal Warriors, Telugu Titans and Puneri Paltan.
The result: U Mumba 39 bt Bengaluru Bulls 18.
