Australia-New Zealand 2nd test drifts toward draw

The second test between Australia and New Zealand drifted toward a draw on Tuesday’s final day at the WACA Ground.

Australia was 331-5 in its second innings at lunch, an overall lead of 266 runs with just two sessions remaining. Peter Nevill and Mitchell Johnson were unbeaten on 22 and 20 respectively at the break.

Johnson, 34, was given a guard of honour by the New Zealand players after announcing before the start of the day’s play that this would be his last international match. Australia lost three wickets in the morning session, including century-makers Steve Smith and Adam Voges. Trent Boult and Tim Southee have two wickets each.
