New Delhi: With Anna Hazare out of action for at least a month due to his falling immunity, IAC's plan to tour the five poll-bound states is likely to be put on a backburner.

The anti-corruption campaigner, suffering from a severe chest congestion, began recovering on Sunday though doctors
advised him not to fast for one month due to his falling immunity.

"Hazare has been advised seven days' rest in hospital even as his condition has improved slightly. He had breakfast today (Sunday). He should not fast at any cost for another month," said Dr Parag Sancheti, who is attending on the social activist.

Hazare, 74, who was shifted from his hometown Ralegan Siddhi to a hospital in Pune on Saturday, underwent some tests, one of which showed he had symptoms of bronchitis.

Hazare appealed to his followers not to worry about his health and that he would be alright soon.

"People who thought I am very unwell, it is not like that. I am much better now," he told reporters from his hospital bed.

"In a few days, I will be alright. Don't worry about me. I request all my countrymen and volunteers not to worry. My health is not that bad," he said.

This was the first public comments of Hazare after he ended his fast in Mumbai abruptly on Wednesday following failing health and poor public response.

He had started his hunger strike in Mumbai on December 27 with cough, cold and viral fever. Even during the fast, which was initially scheduled for three days, his doctors advised Hazare to end it as early as possible.

He ended his fast on the second day and returned to Ralegan Siddhi on Thursday with a cough and fever.

Due to his ill health, Team Anna's crucial core committee meeting slated for Monday and Tuesday in Ralegan Siddhi had to be postponed.

"The core committee meeting scheduled for the coming week has been postponed as Annaji's health is still not good. As soon as he recovers, we will announce the next date," said a statement from Hazare's NGO, India Against Corruption.

The new dates for the meeting are likely to be announced on January 4 or 5.
