JAIPUR: Efforts of Rajasthan State Legal Services Authority (RSLSA) to curb the litigation by way of alternative dispute resolution in the form of week-long mega lok adalat has yielded results with more than 60,000 cases disposed of.
Talking to Times of India, Justice Dalip Singh said, "We were asked by the chief justice to dispose of old cases by way of mega lok adalat organised taking care of old cases pending in around 250 courts in all the 33 districts of the state, including the high court at Jaipur and Jodhpur."
As per Justice Singh's figure, Jaipur city topped the chart of disposal of cases by conciliation with 39,000. Civil judge (Beawar) Shakti Singh disposed off the oldest pending execution of a money decree suit that was pending since 1985.
"In the mega lok adalat held this time from July 25 to 30 the entire concentration was on disposal of civil suits, including land, revenue, and matrimonial disputes. In accident claim cases and civil litigations were resolved by way of conciliation. During this week an award of around Rs 15 crore has been passed," said Justice Singh.
The next mega lok adalat is being organised on September 17. The authorities have invited application from the litigants desirous to place their cases in the next lok adalat in respective courts in state, at taluk, district and high court level.
